Redemption in a Month of Humility

Have you seen the decrease in "June Pride" this year? What a blessing to see the reduction of a month dedicated to man's hubris. I'm not a sports guy, but I have noticed that most major league sports team have used their platform to push the LGBT narrative. What does LGBT Pride Month have to do with professional sports? I read an article that stated only one MLB (Major League Baseball) organization had refused to follow all the other teams in supporting an LGBT narrative—the Texas Rangers. Thankfully, 8 of 32 NFL (National Football League) teams have also refused to fall in line with the fallen narrative.

Pride is not an attribute of God, nor should it be of humankind – the first to fall from such a transgression was Lucifer. I’ll share my thoughts on fallen denominations, churches, and pastors who support such “Pride” another time.

Jesus must increase; I must decrease - aligns with the humility Jesus exhibited on earth; humble yourself, and He will lift you up (James 4:10). Our walk as Christians is not about glorifying one's self but acknowledging our falleness, repenting, and being set free from sin. Jesus came to set us free (Gal. 5:1), and heaven celebrates when a life is transformed (Luke 15).

The beginning of the CHANGED Movement. Former LGBT people praising God for their transformations. California's Capitol steps. 2018

This June, Church United will have active roles in upcoming events with the CHANGED Movement and Restored Hope Network, as both organizations celebrate and share stories of Former LGBT individuals who have been redeemed. Have you heard any of these testimonies? Do you have a son or daughter dealing with an LGBT identity? A friend or co-worker? Or maybe there’s someone in your congregation who is struggling to walk as God has called man and woman to live? I want to invite you to join me at one or both events. If travel to Sacramento for two days to join the CHANGED movement is constraining, you can watch the Restored Hope Network’s virtual 2-day conference.

The CHANGED Movement began the year when Church United hosted an event at the Capitol in Sacramento to stop Assembly Bill 2943, introduced by Assemblyman Evan Low in 2018. Through a united front and the hand of God, Assemblyman Low withdrew his bill on August 31, 2018, which was slated for the Governor's signature to become law. The proposed California law would have forbidden the sale of Bibles, or any person to be compensated for sharing their story of transformation, book sale, or any financial transaction by a counselor / therapist dealing with individuals who no longer identify as LGBT as an act of business fraud. In celebration of this victory, the CHANGED Movement is hosting multiple events on June 11 and 12, including a news conference, testimonies from former LGBT individuals, and a symposium at the Capitol.

The Restored Hope Network (RHN) is a coalition of ministries serving those who desire to overcome relational and sexual issues in their lives and those impacted by homosexuality. RHN was created to declare that Jesus has life-changing power for all who seek Him.

We have found that God can redeem us according to His best intentions for our gender, sexuality, and relationships, including those grappling with LGBT behavior or identity. In Him resides the fullness of grace, truth, and the power to transform lives. To register and join the virtual event, click here. It looks like I’ll be the first to share on June 20. I hope to see you in the audience!

If I see you at one of these events, ask me what professional sports teams I'll be supporting this season.
